Our Priorities

The following Q&A was published in the Henderson Independent

Brady has lived in Belle Plaine for nearly 20 years, since 2005.

What made you want to run for city council?

I have always felt a sense of duty. An urge to “be a part of something greater than myself.” I am a advocate for helping and supporting others. Serving as a city council member would be an excellent way to provide those services to this community that I love and have made my home. My family and I plan on being here for life and I would love the opportunity to aid in the community’s future.

If elected, what background, experience or skills can you bring to the table to benefit the position and community?

I have worked for the Minnesota Department of Corrections for the last 18 years. For the last years I have held the role of Lieutenant. In this role, I supervise employees and excel at communication with the incarcerated population, coworkers and the public. On a daily basis, I utilize problem solving and risk mitigation, often times in high stress situations. It takes creativity and communication for success. I believe I have creativity and communicate well to those above and below me in rank. I take a person-centered approach when dealing with tasks and objectives, while making sure all are heard, and multiple avenues are explored for problem solving.

There has been a lot of development and construction projects in town the last few years, what is the "next" thing you think the community needs?

I believe economic growth is needed in our community, which could be through bringing in companies to provide jobs and services for our community.

If elected, how would you engage or communicate with residents to ensure their voices are heard at the council table?

How long have you lived in Belle Plaine?

If elected to this position, I would make sure that I am easily accessible to the community that I serve. I love conversation especially on topics that improve our community. I am out in the community often whether it be up at All Wheel Wednesday, at the community pool, or at the grocery store. I would prioritize the needs of the community and ensure that the population feels that their needs and ideas are heard. While I do not typically engage on public social media, I do pay attention to it and do my best to stay well informed.
